Report cards went home today. Let me show you all my accomplishments. Mme W. is very proud of everyone!! :) Mme W. was happy to share Henry with everyone today. He came to visit our class just before lunch and had a great time playing a little bit of ball and he showed off a bit with his tricks ;) Last day of grade 3 together tomorrow, we will be going to the farewell assembly in the morning. We had an amazing day at Bowmont park! We had sunshine the entire day and the walk was very nice. We had a great time by the river, saw an Osprey, ducks, fish, various bugs, even a caterpillar. Ask me what my favourite part of the day was. We played a lot of great games such as evolution, camouflage, and finished up with a sit spot where we listened to nature for a few minutes. It was very relaxing. Pajama day tomorrow! You can also bring a stuffy :)
We will be going on our last walking field trip tomorrow morning to Bowmont park. We are planning on being outside all day if weather permits, from 8:15-2:30pm. Please remember to dress in layers, with rain boots and rain jacket. Bring extra socks and extra snacks for the day with a full water bottle and a garbage free lunch. If it is a very wet day we shorten the trip or cancel. A decision will be made tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed that we can go out for a super fun day to be in the fresh air and explore together! Some of my workbooks came home today. Let me share them with you :)
Our next pajama day will be Wednesday! Come wearing your comfy pjs! My report card will be coming home Wednesday. Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. There will be celebrations all across Canada this weekend celebrating the First Nations heritage and Cultures. We discussed why this day is very important and how we celebrate our heritage and family together. For more information regarding this day: http://www.2learn.ca/enjoy/NIPDay/default.aspx https://www.alberta.ca/national-indigenous-peoples-day-celebrations.aspx We had a very fun sports day morning on the first day of summer! Since we didn't go outside because of the rain, (some of us went out there for a bit ;) there were 12 great stations inside the school. Ask me which were my favourite.
Have a fun weekend, we hope that the sun comes out! If you purchased a school year book, they were sent home today! Take a look at the amazing year we had together!
Ask me about Frisbee Rob. He is a professional world record Frisbee champion player! We have been playing Frisbee games with him in the gym. If the weather cooperates, we will be having a sports day morning. Come wearing your BLUE or RED Varsity Acres t-shirts or sweaters. An email will be going home from the school informing if our sports day will be moved to another day due to the rain or if activities will be inside. Our kindergarten buddies came to visit us today. We shared a few of our projects with them, including our caterpillars and our scientific observations about them. Some of our caterpillars are forming a chrysalis and have been transferred into our classroom net. Hopefully in about a week, they will be transforming into some lovely Painted Lady butterflies!
Music share presentations tomorrow Wednesday June 19th at 9am: Zoe H, Lily, Asha, and Beckham. Music share presentations Thursday June 20th 8:05am : Jorja, Siyara, Marie, Catherine and Evan. Special Healthy Hunger Lunch this Thursday June 20th is Subway. Come to school with some healthy snacks and a water bottle. We had a very special guest visit our classroom today! He came from the Calgary WildLife Rehabilitation Society. His name is Lito, a amazing Swainson Hawk. Take a guess why his name is Lito ;) We learned a lot about hawks, birds and about some Albertan mammals from Mrs. Gayleen who is an educational volunteer. The WildLife Society takes care of many Albertan birds and mammals that are hurt and need to recover, then most get released back into the wild. We all learned a lot of cool information about birds today! Ask me what I thought was interesting and about the new topics I learned. Hawks are very cool birds!
Hawk Certificate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t3ddemvmjksprmu/HawksOnTheMove_Certificate.pdf?dl=0 http://calgarywildlife.org/ There will be a special guest joining us Monday morning! It has 2 feet, a beak, feathers and can fly. We will be learning all about this special animal and why it is important in our world.
Ask me how our caterpillars are doing. Some are starting to form a chrysalis. Have a very fun Father's Day weekend!! We had a fun Tunisia day. Ask me about the 2 Tunisian activities we participated in.
I used a special plaster and technique when I created my Tunisian art, ask me what this was. My lovely art will be coming home tomorrow! We also tasted some special tea and foods that are grown in Tunisia. Ask me what food I liked the best and why. |
For the month of June we will be reviewing all the monthly Virtues that we have been learning about this year.
